A healthy scalp is the soil from which every strand grows. Imbalance — too dry, too oily, too irritated — shows up as dandruff, itch, hair fall and dullness long before it shows up as hair loss.

Three habits make the biggest difference: a sulphate free shampoo that cleans without stripping, a weekly herbal hair oil massage to stimulate circulation, and avoiding heat-styling on a wet scalp.

If you have an oily scalp, a clay-and-shikakai wash once a week helps. If you have a dry, flaky scalp, a warm pumpkin seed and coconut oil massage the night before wash day will rebuild the lipid layer.
